Teign school mixed handball festival
10 teams entered the Teign school Primary handball festival today from 4 of our local schools.
Five Teign School year 12 sports leaders planned, organised and ran the event with help from year nine leaders from our new leadership, coaching and volunteering academy.
70 students in total attended from Chudleigh, Rydon, Kingsteignton and Chudleigh Knighton with some outstanding skills, endurance and determination shown throughout the day.
This was an area event that leads to the Devon school games finals with the top two teams going through to the next stage. However, the focus was also on the school games values and teams were awarded certificates for honesty, respect, team work or passion as well as their overall positions in the tournament.
In the year 3/4 tournament Chudleigh were the winners with Chudleigh Knighton 2nd. In the year 5/6 tournament Chudleigh were once again the winners with Rydon 2nd.
Congratulations to all 3 schools who progress to the regional finals in a few weeks time. It was also great to have Kingsteignton Primary school to their very first school games event and we were delighted to award their year 3-4 team an award for ‘passion’ and the 5/6 team with an award for ‘respect’ as they finished a credible 4th in both of their tournaments.
We can’t wait to see all four schools next week for the KS1 aesthetics festival!
