Teign School Gifted & Talented PE students visit the Sports Training Village at The University of Bath
Our students as always were impeccably behaved, worked hard & asked great questions.
We arrived at 10am & started with some speed & agility practical work where the students got to test their speed through the lights gates. We then headed into the labs where the students learnt how scientific testing can impact sports performance. Ollie in particular deserves a special mention for his maximal testing on the treadmill where they measured his oxygen & carbon dioxide use to understand his VO2 max plus they took blood samples to establish his lactate threshold.
The students then had some lunch & a tour of the facilities.
Our day finished with a presentation from Phoebe Hayden who is an incredible GBR U23 rower who studies at the university.
We hope the students were as inspired as their teachers were. Fingers crossed it’s opened their eyes to the possibilities that lie ahead for them & it will motivate them to keep being the best they can be in their own sports. Thank you university of Bath for a brilliant day.
