South Devon UTC Inter-School Digital Challenge Competition 2023
Making an App for Good
The competition brought together pairs of talented Year 10 students, each presenting their innovative “app for good” concepts. Throughout the competition, participants passionately outlined the core purpose of their apps, emphasizing how they aimed to address pressing societal issues. They effectively highlighted unique features that set their ideas apart, underlining how these features contributed to the greater good. Additionally, participants showcased meticulous research into existing apps, demonstrating a commitment to learning from successful models.
What truly set this competition apart was the comprehensive nature of the presentations. Each pair not only conceptualized their app but also presented preliminary designs, logos, user interface concepts, and wireframes. This holistic approach allowed them to effectively communicate their vision, making it ready for potential investors or crowdfunding campaigns.
While the apps themselves were not fully developed, this event provided a platform where ingenious ideas, social consciousness, and innovative design converged. This competition not only celebrated the potential of technology to drive positive change but also nurtured the next generation of socially responsible tech leaders. Its success lies not only in its inspiring concepts but also in its potential to shape a better future through technology.
Congratulations to Kingsbridge Community College who was the overall winner.
