Sign Language Week at Coombeshead Academy
It is Sign Language Week, a national campaign led by the British Deaf Association.
It is celebrated every year in March to commemorate the first time British Sign Language (BSL) was acknowledged as a language in its own right by the UK Government in March 2003. The aim of the campaign is to raise awareness and to encourage more people to start learning BSL.
Mrs Blake ran a BSL taster session in school this week, including a brief history of BSL and teaching students some phrases in BSL.
