SEND Swimming Festival
On Monday 4thJuly, Miss Westlake and 5 support staff took 14 incredible Teign School students took part in a SEND swimming festival at St Sidwell’s Point Leisure Centre, ran by Active Devon and supported by many local areas. This was to celebrate the Commonwealth Games coming to Birmingham this summer. Teign school were the only secondary school pupils there which is absolutely fantastic for our school and shows our dedication to wider community events.
The morning consisted of our swimming session, led by qualified staff and supported by brilliant leaders. Not only did this increase water safety skills and knowledge, but it also increased water confidence. The students then had a well deserved break, drinking our free smoothies and milkshakes! During this time, we managed to see the actual Commonwealth Baton and have a picture with Perry the mascot.
The afternoon consisted of two workshops. This included a dance workshop and arts and crafts. All of the students had a go at both stations which showed great determination.
After these two stations it was time to go home. The students were very happy with the slime they made in the arts and crafts station!
A massive well done to everybody once again.
