Coombeshead Academy Year 5 Sporting Spectacular
Year 5 students from Primaries in and around Newton Abbot have visited Coombeshead Academy over 2 full days this week in order to take part in the Year 5 Sporting Spectacular!
On Thursday 30th June over 240 young competitors from Ipplepen, Denbury, Decoy, Highweek and Canada arrived on the 3G Pitch ready for a day of sporting fun.
On Friday almost 100 more arrived to have they turn from Abbotskerswell and Bradley Barton.
30 Year 10 Leaders greeted the pupils before running activities for the day.
The morning activities were based around athletics and students rotated in mixed groups around 6 stations. The activities included Long Jump, Shot Putt, Javelin, Sprints, Hurdles and Relays.
Leaders were asked to identify students who they thought had performed well in individual activities or had shown resilience, kindness or passion when taking part.
For the afternoon session the schools were in several pre-selected teams and they had the chance to compete in either a Dodgeball Tournament or a Handball Tournament.
On both days the competition was fierce but fun and pupils and leaders all enjoyed the chance to represent their school.
Primary pupils left at the end of the day tired but happy to have had such a fun sporting experience!
Well done to all who took part and we look forward to seeing you soon at Coombeshead soon.
