Best Ever GCSE Results for Dartmouth Academy

Dartmouth Academy is pleased to announce the excellent GCSE results achieved by pupils this summer. Rising to the high expectations and rigour of the examinations, pupils’ attainment has increased from the previous cohort for core subjects: those achieving a grade 4 or above in English has risen to 66% and to 60% in Maths.

The government has been making GCSE exams harder, so the performances of high-flying individuals are even more impressive.  Pupils with notable attainment, achieving grades 7-9 in the majority of their subjects, include Samuel Clark, Izak Hemmings, Troy Bradbury, Josh Knight, Abby Peeke and Rhianna Mold.

A key performance indicator for schools is the progress made by each pupil. Once the national data is known it is clear that pupils at Dartmouth Academy will have achieved well above the national average. Truly exceptional performances have been seen by George Clarke, Kyle Woodward, India Palmer, Eloise Green, Louie Willicott, Abigail Lees, Leah Paddon and Caleb Hobson.

Tina Graham, Principal of Dartmouth Academy, said that she “is incredibly proud of all the pupils, staff and parents who have worked together in order to achieve these results. We are delighted with the choices that pupils have made regarding their future study.  In a truly comprehensive and inclusive school it is beyond reward to see such a significant proportion of pupils aspiring to, and achieving being,

their best selves.”

This year, two pupils were offered places at Exeter Maths School and all pupils are looking forward to either their A Level studies at a variety of local schools and colleges, vocational courses or apprenticeships secured in the local community. This follows fantastic news regarding the success of previous Dartmouth Academy pupils who have just achieved their A Level grades at Kingsbridge Community College. Jonah Hughes’ consistent hard work paid off with him earning 3 A* grades. Other pupils including Adam Callard, Katie Stevens, Georgia Hammoudeh-Webb, Ralph Ryder and Freya Bradley have achieved exceptional results and are looking forward to a wide range of university and employment opportunities ahead. We wish all of the present and past pupils of Dartmouth Academy the very best for the future.
